Circular Economy

Understanding how we design, use, and regenerate resources.

At People For Nature, we believe the way we produce and consume materials sits at the heart of both climate change and biodiversity loss. Our current linear economy - take, make, waste - places growing pressure on natural systems, resources, and communities.

The circular economy offers a different approach: designing out waste, keeping materials in use, and regenerating natural systems. Our work focuses on helping people and organisations understand these systems and explore practical pathways towards more resilient and regenerative models.

Our flagship programme: Circular Economy Collage

We are the official country partner of Circular Economy Collage in Australia.

The Circular Economy Collage is delivered in Australia in partnership with La Fresque de l'Economie Circulaire, as part of an international education initiative.

The workshop is a collaborative, science-based learning experience that helps participants understand how resource extraction, product design, consumption patterns, and waste systems are interconnected. Through collective intelligence and facilitated discussion, participants explore the environmental, economic, and social implications of moving from a linear to a circular model.

Participants learn to:
  • Understand the limits of the linear economic model

  • Identify the environmental impacts of resource extraction and waste

  • Explore circular principles such as reuse, repair, redesign, and regeneration

  • Recognise links between circular economy, climate, and biodiversity

  • Identify opportunities for action within their organisation or community

The Circular Economy Collage creates a shared understanding that enables meaningful conversations about innovation, responsibility, and systemic change.

Circular Economy in Action

Across Australia, organisations are using the Circular Economy Collage to build shared understanding, support sustainability transitions, and identify opportunities for innovation and collaboration.

Our Approach

Our methodology recognises that information alone does not lead to change. Effective circular economy engages three dimensions:

Workshop participant studying materials
Head - Understanding

Participants build a systems understanding of resource use, waste, regeneration, and the limits of the linear economic model.

Volunteer taking practical action by planting in the forest
Heart - Connection

Workshops create space to explore values, responsibility, and the relationship between economy, nature, and community.

Volunteer connecting with nature by holding a tree
Hand - Action

Participants identify practical opportunities to redesign, reduce waste, extend product life, and support regenerative outcomes in their own contexts.

This approach helps transform circular economy from an abstract problem into a shared societal challenge that people feel capable of addressing together.

Who we work with:

Circular economy literacy is relevant across sectors. Our programmes are designed to be accessible and applicable to:

  • Businesses and corporate teams
  • Entrepreneurs and innovators
  • Universities and students
  • Local governments and institutions
  • Community groups and the general public

Designing a regenerative future

Transitioning to a circular economy requires informed decision-makers, collaborative thinking, and a shared understanding of systems.

Our goal is simple: to make circular economy principles understandable, accessible, and actionable - helping organisations and communities move from extraction towards regeneration.
